Hi..
i am currently on my 8th year h1..and on the bench..hoping some projects will come thru in a week or so.
Currently i have been on LOP for almost 5 weeks now..
what do you think would be a good option for me:
a.) Start the process for H4..and find a new job..and transfer H1 and stay till H1 is valid till may 2010..
b.) Be on bench for few more weeks.. and hope someting will work out...(firm has said they wont cancel my h1/140).. they are just being helpful..but?
c.) R2I ASAP...and try for a consular processing....?
d.) go to H4...and R2I in May...then if the Eb2(Dec 2005) dates are current..try for a CP..its a long shot...
i am confused..any suggestions??

Hello everyone,
It is extremely unfortunate but I have lost my green card. I can�t seem to find it anywhere. I know that it has not been stolen, just lost! I need to apply for a replacement green card ASAP. I need to submit some initial documents along with my I-90 form for it. I have been trying to search on the internet regarding it but I can�t seem to find a clear answer.
Long story short, could somebody please tell me what initial documents are there to submit along with my I-90 form? I have a copy of my original green card, but is there anything else required? Am I required to submit my photos along with my form?
I would highly appreciate if someone could reply to my queries ASAP.

When my wife lost it, I sent the copy of the green card along with I-90. I also went to the local USCIS office to get the stamp of I-551 on her passport as well.
I believe they will schedule for fingerprinting and photo will be taken at that time. (eventually we did found her missing GC and cancelled the request and hence did not go through the entire process) :)

My wife's company has filed for her H1B and she has been given the receipt number from her HR dept, but we are unable to check the case status online. whenver wetry to check the status of her case online it says
"Your case can not be found at this time in Case Status Online. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283"

Hi, this is my first time in the forum and I wish to seek advice on my situation.
I'm a green card holder (singapore citizen) who got married while being a US PR. I wish to apply for my wife (singapore citizen) a green card.
How long is the typical wait? while applying, is it true that my wife can't enter the US?
I kind of know the answers but would like to confirm with this forum. I know the situation can be pretty bleak.

I have one question about signing the affidavit of support (864) for immigration of a family member.
(i.e. For petition for Immediate Relative- daughter files for mother)
If daughter signs an affidavit of support for mother (i.e. form 864) for immigrant visa (Immediate relative) then in that case for daughter is it going to create any problem in getting study loans/home loan in future?
Just curious, how are they related.
I'm not seeing any connection between these items.
Affidavit is for USCIS to show the ability that she can take the financial burden, study loan is for university to decide borrower can able to pay or not and mortgage loan is also the same, in both the cases you have to pay back and in first case it is not.

Hi IV friends-
I am preparing to apply for my EAD througth E-file online. I am on H1-B currently and my I-485 was filled under my husband's EB2 application in July 2007. I did apply for EAD at the same time and got approved EAD for a year but never used and it it expired in December 2008. Now My H-1 B cap will reach in March 2011 and want to go on EAD ASAP so I can save the remaining time on H1-B ( advised by my company lawyer.) . My questions -
Should I apply for reneal of EAD or new EAD?
How difficulat is it to apply online? Do I need to send coyp of my H1-B etc as supporting deocument?

also try taking appointment by sending someone to the mumbai office. only a portion of the appointments are available on the internet. you can get a better date by taking a local appointment. it can be taken anywhere where there is VFS office (pune etc) if mumbai is not a convenient place for you. this was the case around 3 years ago, i dont know if it has changed now, but worth exploring the option.

This was expected. Tancredo was a single issue candidate and most people of this good country are sensible. They see him for what he is. Economic hardships combined with lots of false information can easily bias even the most well meaning citizen.
He did manage to bring illegal immigration topic to prominence and promoted general hatred towards immigrants. Personally I am happy he is out and I hope this country will be spared from any further "public service" from this abominable politician.

I got a family based green card (through my father - F1 family based category).
My father lives in east coast.
When I entered US on immigrant visa at that time my father was in India for one month visit.
Before my father come to US I moved westcoast for Job.
So basically after getting GC I have not stayed with my father even for a single day.
Now I am planning to go to east cost to visit my father and from there we are planning to visit canada.
My questions:
1. Is there any requirement that after entering on immigrant visa(GC) I have to stay with my father (even for few days)?
2. For my Canada visit: What things I need to keep with me (except GC and Passport) while entering US (from canada)?

Wondering if a little something when filing my taxes will backfire on me when filing I-140/485.
I'm single/no dependents but for past 4 yrs or so when filing taxes have showed 2 dependents for child tax credit (no earned income credit applied for)....my niece/nephew. My bro had full knowledge and he had suggested as due to his status in US, he is not required to file taxes. Sis in law not working, so not filing taxes. So i used to do that....
It won't come to bite me right???? ok i am never doing this from now on but is it too late for me. Obviously on my immigation forms i will show no dependents etc as i have none...
any advice.....

my self (h1 holder) and my spouse (h4 holder) currently out of country. 485 approved for h1 holder. but AOS is still pending for h4 holder. H4 holder does not have AP.
What happens at POE ? We both have valid h1 and h4 stamping but no AP. are we allowed to re-enter on H1 and H4 ?

I am on H1-B and have an EAD. My Dad is a builder in Hyderabad and I want to promote the apartments in US. Can I rent an office space and just do marketing without registering a business? All sales will be completed in India.
