Are you saying that only people who love each and every Apple decision should post here? Probably not but you sound like it. I thought we were just discussing the merits of tech gadgets here.
No, what I'm saying is that there are many Android forums out there that would provide news about products that suit you more than iProducts do. You want a product that dies on you half-way through the day. The majority of us don't.

Could someone clarify this for me: Aren't hard drives too slow to make use of Thunderbolt anyway? In a typical USB 2.0 external hard drive, what is the bottleneck in speed: The speed at which the hard drive spins, or the USB 2.0 connection? If it's the USB, then why do people even care about the RPM of a drive? If it's the RPM, then isn't USB 2.0 fast enough to run a hard drive at its native speed?
You're talking about spinning hard drives. Newer SSD drives perform MUCH faster, in fact the fastest right now require direct connection to a high speed PCI-e 8x or 16x. When you start building massive raid and grid arrays, you start reaching a point where you can saturate the line as well.
For a typical consumer this is usually overkill, but for those of us that actually use our workstations for rendering, video editing, heavy data processing, we need this kind of connectivity.

50%? Did you forget how much Macs cost? One of the main reasons Dell has such a huge market share is because they are so cost effective and come with great bundles aimed at the average person. 50% of computer users could never afford a Mac.
What third world country are you living in, where 50% of computer users could never afford a Mac?

I guess that means you can't legally run XP on a Core Duo or Core2 Duo system...
Even for XP Home multi-core processors are considered one processor. It's the number of chips that counts. All started when Intel started Hyperthreading P4 CPUs (i.e. presenting them as 2 CPUs).

The Might Mouse is the worst piece of crap Apple has ever released. Everyone knows it!
The only reason anyone would buy this thing is because of blind Apple brand loyalty.
You're trolling, right?
And don't forget...Apple is including the MM with the G5's and iMacs. That's why I have one, and I wish all my computers have one.
I love this image, it is sooooo over the top for one mouse. If it was even a mac mini it would look more appropriate, but a mouse on a table with white paneling on all sides is in my opinion really idiotic.
You do realize that's a shot inside a lab somewhere, not a posed publicity image, right?
Wonder how much the upgrade will be for iMac/tower buyers. And will it be a bundle with the BT keyboard, or available separately?

Is this for Intel Macs only or will it work on PPC too?
I would have to think this would be for Intel Macs only.
Off topic; YG17, be sure to vote Tuesday!

What kind of clothes are you buying?
I've got a bunch of Banana Republic and L.L. Bean.
A few Lacoste and Polo and Burberry items as well.
The only things for me that don't last are jeans/slacks. I do go through those a bit faster, probably around the 2 year mark.
IMO it's all in the quality of the clothing. Back in college I would buy Tommy Hilfiger, Old Navy, and Nautica and that stuff would barely last a year. Really cheap stuff.
I prefer stuff along the lines of my Banana Republic and L.L. Bean button down shirts. No logos or emblems on the outside of the shirt, and real good quality that holds up for years.

Make it easy to clean, or I'm sticking with my Kensington Trackball. 10 years, the same design. And I can replace the white trackball with my favorite snooker ball.
Bah, I upgraded to the USB model after both generations of ADB models finally bit the dust.
I'd love to get the thing wireless so I can leave it on my desk and show up with my iBook and use it. Same for a full-sized keyboard.
Has anybody seen a Bluetooth to USB adapter that can present a USB keyboard and mouse to a Bluetooth computer? You'd think such a thing should exist, but I've searched high and low. Complicating things is that there are thousands of USB to Bluetooth adapters that give a host computer Bluetooth functionality which clutter the google results.
No need for battery powered either, I want a USB keyboard and mouse into one end, power into the other, and Bluetooth out an antenna. I have to believe somebody in Taiwan is churning these out.

Can someone just post a damn changelog? Honestly... I don't want to have to reinstall DP2 over SL to find out if 2011 MBP GFX issues were fixed (screen savers, display blockiness, etc.).
You do know everyone who has a changelog is under NDA, don't you? Why don't you just go look at the change log?

I always wonder why people decide to respond to the post below mine which says the same thing but with less proof...
Above I said the same thing with a specific example. It's not as fun to argue with someone who makes a good argument though, is it?

Great you posted some blog with an interesting interpretation of potential issues with the contract. Do you have any evidence that this policy has been enforced?

Someone mentioned the Windows 3.1 calendar?
http://www.sptv.demon.co.uk/calendar/calendar1.gif
oh yes, this totally nails it! :D
i kind of like the new UI, however, i do more like the lay-out
not so much the torn paper edges and faux-leather...
i truly hope switching back to "classic" view is still there...

Yes, competition is a good thing... But how much real leeway do any of these companies have to set price points? It seems to me that the labels are the ones mostly setting the pricing, and that's in their favor, not in the customer's favor.
It seems the labels allow different prices for different stores in order to "game" the system in their favor- they'll allow Amazon to sell for less in the hopes of eating into Apple's market share and taking away more of Apple's leverage to negotiate for lower costs for itself (and customers).

Thanks for the chart...I always like to see stuff like this. But your 3Q and 4Q numbers for 2003 and 2004 looked a bit fishy, so I looked into it and made the corrections below for 2004. Don't know if there are any other errors.
Thanks. I'll have to go back through all the reports I have one day when I'm bored.

"A colleague of mine just picked up a 16 GB iPhone 4 in white. I was a bit surprised when I picked it up off his desk (I had my black 32 GB in my other hand at the same time) it immediately felt thicker."
LOL, that's absolutely ridiculous.
Also, why is everyone feeling so sorry for the case makers...like Apple is screwing them over? It's not their responsibility to cater to the case makers.

An interesting read in response to the kernel panic ability of the .DMG vulnerability:
Guess what I found? Not only is lmh’s diagnosis completely incorrect, but the problem isn’t a security flaw at all, let alone a critical, highly critical, or warn-everyone-via-the-BBC type event.
http://alastairs-place.net/2006/11/dmg-vulnerability/
A very insteresting read.. most of which I only barely grasp. Object oriented programming just makes my eyes glaze thinking about it.. The gist:
So, what have we learned:
• It is not a memory overwrite bug.
• It is not exploitable, except in that you can kernel panic a machine if you can persuade a user to double-click a damaged dmg file.
• It is not, therefore, possible to use this bug for privilege elevation or to execute arbitrary code in the kernel.
In fact, all lmh has found here is a bug that causes a kernel panic. Not a security flaw. Not a memory corruption bug. Just a completely orderly kernel panic. There aren’t even any processor exceptions involved; the path to the panic is perfectly normal non-exceptional code using ordinary function calls.
AppleTalk: Who uses it, and why?
No one.. and stangely it's now ON by DEFAULT in all the MacTels I've received lately. No idea why.

I personally believe these days that the look of the phone comes secondary to what is "under the hood".
Yes it helps if it's a good shape with a good screen but if Apple continue to release devices that a technically better the the rest then people will lap it up - the death grip didnt stop so many iPhone 4s being sold did it - people accepted it as the device packed a punch
People buy iPhones because they work well, look good, and are cool/in. I would say that 80% of the iPhone buying world doesn't give a damn what's "under the hood." I fail to see how you could possibly think otherwise.

Verizon?
But they have already said (albeit rumor) the iPhone will have the qualcom dual mode chip, so they are apparently not going to continue to build separate devices in the future.
